"Loving Eternity", 103
From my "Deconstructed", series, but only smaller. The third piece of my small scale pieces from all my series.
I bought this Manzanita burl wood, from a forest fire fighter from California. Hard and tricky to work do to how dense the wood is and the natural cracks and faults that this wood is known to have.
What is hard about down sizing my work is, getting the proportions right, I thought that i was going to have to cut this piece down in the beginning. But the size and proportions worked out perfect. Manzanita Burl, 7 x 9.5 x 7 inches
"Ocean Harmony", 104
From my "Ocean Harmony", series, but smaller. Hawaiian Black Wattle root. Cut about 5 years ago and re-discovered. 5 x 10 x 9 inches. Was supposed to be a "Feeling of Movement", piece. But after removing the rotten sections, I had to change directions. Lots of nice figure and color.
